We are very proud to announce that through a combined effort with the Cleveland Botanical Gardens in University Circle, Cleveland landscape design/build company Greensource LLC, was named as one of the 2013 Build the Circle award winning recipients presented at MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland for the White Oak walkway/ Wade Oval improvements.
Together we designed and created three interactive areas of learning and play that focus on these elements: trees, birds and native animals. Greensource LLC planted new, native trees, shrubs and ground covers that show interesting tree characteristics (tree rings on a stump) and the best plants for birds and other wildlife. We also utilized the perimeter fence to showcase interactive interpretation: reliefs of leaves and birds that can be turned to view both sides; Built and installed two giant bird nests for children to explore. Greensource artisans installed undulating stepping stones to encourage visitors to interact with the interpretive elements.
Our crews added animal tracks to some of the stones leading children to figure out which native animal might have made them. Re-purposed locally fallen trees turned into benches and large chairs. Another element of the new garden landscape design for the Cleveland Botanical Gardens was incorporating beautifully colored large boulders for guests to climb and sit on. Last but not least Greensource designed and installed a state of the art LED low voltage landscape lighting system consisting of high quality Kichler fixtures & components so that the garden hours could be extended into the evening hours.
We are very honored to be part of this project and appreciate the opportunity to be able to design and portray landscapes outside the box.
